The Department Of Security Service have yesterday, the 29th of September, denied arresting the author and journalist, Chido Onumah.
According to Dr Peter Afuanya, the PR officer of the DSS Headquarter, Abuja, he was only engaged in an interactive session where an act of his, capable of undermining public order and National security was explained to him.
The statement says, “Chido Onumah arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on the 29th September 2019 wearing a shirt which had the inscription, WE ARE ALL BIAFRANS.
“With credible intelligence, that he might be a subject of mob attack if allowed to go inside the town wearing the same T-shirt, the service invited him and drew his attention to the implication of his probable (un)intended actions.
“It was strongly believed that an attack on Chido Onumah would have sparked up ethnoreligious reprisals with dire consequences on national order and public security in the country”
The DSS said denied all the claims of arresting the journalist whose news of arrest was the subject of social media discussions across all platforms in the country, citing these speculations of him being attacked. They have also said, he cooperated with them and agreed not to wear the T-shirt again. We aree yet to hear from Chido Onumah on what really happened.
