Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has on Thursday, presented a budget, totalling N137.1bn to the state House Of Assembly with respect to the 2020 fiscal year.
An analysis of the budget showed that it was 43% recurrent expenditure and 57% capital expenditure. With 57.69bn and 78.3bn going for each expenditure respectively.
Obiano said the expenditure will take into consideration, the state’s revenue and expenditure trend.
The Governor added, “This is expected to accelerate the 2020 budget theme of accelerating Infrastructural development and Youth Entrepreneurship.”
He also said he hoped the budget will facilitate the intended improvement in infrastructure in Anambra state.
“This budget plans to sustain our past performance and ensure that Anambra state continues to maintain its status as a hub for business and a destination for new investments.”
“Road construction and rehabilitation according to the budget will gulp N22.2bn, out of which N15.15bn would be spent on the construction of new roads as well as the rehabilitation of new ones.”
Education got the second-highest allocation at N8.3bn, followed by the Anambra international airport which was allotted N6bn.
The speaker of the state house of assembly, Hon. Uche Okafor commended the Governor for the early presentation of the budget and assured him that work on it will be accelerated for quick passage.
