We’ve discovered another role for Iwobi – Everton Coach, Marco Silva

Everton Manager, Marco Silva, says the club has discovered another role where Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, can “do well.”Everton defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 on Tuesday to advance to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.Iwobi, played behind the striker, which was not his usual role at the Blues.Silva at a post-match interview, Silva said the club had discovered that Iwobi cannot only function as playmaker but also as a supporting striker. The Everton manager said, “We reacted well tonight (Wednesday) and now we move on to Saturday. When we signed (Alex) Iwobi we knew he can play behind the striker and tonight was a good moment to see him there. He can play in both positions and do well in both.“The preparation time was short after Saturday’s game but the full focus was on this game. Since the first day we were so clear about our goals – three competitions and the cups were important and we’ve shown that tonight

It was important for Dominic (Calvert-Lewin) to score twice. He did well to score in important moments. It gives him confidence. Let’s hope he continues in that way.“We controlled the game in the second half without creating as many chances but we move into the next round.”
