The Super falcons were seen yesterday jubiliating wildly and hugging each other in their training room in Rennes, France after the match between the Scottish and Argentinean women ended in a 3-3 dramatic draw.
The video was shared by the Falcons captain, Desire Oparanozie, yesterday on her Instagram page.
The Super Falcons now have a brightened hope of qualifying as one of the best third place teams. The hope initially suffered a setback after they suffered a controversial loss 1-0 loss to the French team, who scored by a penalty that was initially missed but ordered to be retake because the Super Falcons goal keeper was said to have crossed the line.
However, last night, this same rule kind of played in the Super Falcons favour as the Argentinean team was ordered to retake their penalty.
The Argentinean team inititally headed into the game with a single point and had hopes of qualifying if they could get a win. But they found themselves in 3-0 behind and had to stage a dramatic 3-3 comeback which unfortunately for them, was not enough.
Two spots from the best placed third team had initially been taken by Brazil and China with 6 and 4 points respectively. The Super falcons now stand a chance of qualifying as long as New Zealand and Cameroun play a draw or either side win with a less than three goals margin, and as long as Thailand do not lose to Chile by more than a three goals margin, having conceded 17 goals already.
