The Civil servants in Imo state have erupted in jubilation over the announcement by the newly inaugurated governor of the state, Rt. Honorable Emeka Ihedioha, that beginning from May, workers in the state will now receive 100% of their salaries.
It will be remembered that for some time during the reign of Rochas Okorocha the previous governor, that salaries of some workers in the state were slashed during payment. And this includes pensioners who only received 40%.
But now, the new governor has announced his intention of returning the status quo to the norm and effect full payment of salaries to workers. In addition to this, the governor has also promised to pay the three months outstanding owed members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). The doctors in turn, responded to this by calling off their strike in order to give the new governor a chance.
The working class populace of the state have since been in a happy mood over this announcement. They have said that the announcement by Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha is a welcome development and justifies the reason why the people of Imo State voted him into power in the Governorship elections held on the 23rd of March 2019.
