The leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has yesterday, in a tweet asked the Ebonyi state governor, His Excellency. David Umahi to apologize for Ndigbo for betraying them, now that the consequences of his action has begun to surface.
David Umahi was reported to have cried out during the weekend about how a woman was raped in Ịsụ and how more incidents of this nature are going on in Afikpo north, Onicha and Izzi Local Government Areas of the state.
This took place in a ‘peacetalk’ between farmers and herders at the Akanu Ibiam international conference center, Abakaliki, capital of the state.
Governor Umahi has been known over the years for his sheepish followers hip of the presidency and patronage of the Fulani herdsmen which has often been to the detriment of Ndigbo. The governor who was inaugurated last week is now all over the media crying sheepishly to the leader of Miyetti Allah to fix up the issue for him, because apparently, the matter has spiraled out of his control.
In a broadcast on the 2nd December, 2014, Nnamdi Kanu had said:
“…Then a group deadlier than Boko Haram will emerge, they will seize our farmlands, rape our women, kill our people and their master will protect, defend and even arm them, because their sole agenda is to enslave us forever. Those who cannot see it now, will soon see it. The hatred in their souls for my people is legendary. They do not see us as humans. They kill, they slaughter, they burn and they destroy. Mindless bloodletting is in their DNA. My people are in trouble. ”
There is apparently no difference between Nnamdi Kanu’s broadcast late in 2014 and what has been happening in many parts of Nigeria including Ebonyi state in the last four years since His Excellency. Muhammadu Buhari took over power which saw the advent of the rise of the Fulani Herdsmen who have been going about killing, maiming, raping people and collecting their lands.
We hope this serves as an eye opener to the Ebonyi state governor who was reported to have named an institute in Ebonyi state University after the murderous chief of Army staff, General. Buratai.
