The new government of Imo state has released a press statement saying they had no hand in the demolition of Akachi Statue.
The demolition happened barely 24 hours after Governor Emeka Ihedioha Assumed office.
A lot of Imo State Indigenes have condemned the action, stating that the monument was constructed with public funds and should not be pulled down to spite the former administration.
The Akachi tower was one of the many tourist attractions built by Rochas Okorocha was built on a reclaimed dumpsite that was abandoned by previous administrations.
The demolition was supervised by soldiers barring journalists from covering the demolition exercise.
The people of the state thought the exercise was ordered by the new governor, but the governor denied having a hand in the exercise through his a press release by his Special Adviser, Steve Osuji which says that the Governor is not aware of the exercise, as he is in the Government House trying to settle down in his new office.
