Nigerian Online Journalist, Daniel Elombah Granted Bail While Brother Remains In Custody


London-based Nigerian journalist, Daniel Elombah who was arrested have been released after being detained on Monday by security operatives in Anambra State.
Mr. Elombah and another man who works for the online platform,, were granted administrative bail on Tuesday while Timothy, the Editor-in-Chief of the online newspaper remains in custody for another seven days based on a warrant signed by a magistrate court in Mpape, Abuja.
Elombah who is the publisher of online platform,, which began operations in 2009, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. at his home in Nnewi on New Year’s Day. According to his brother, Paul Elombah, he affirmed that the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) carried out the arrest.
According to the Police, they arrested the brothers and, “a third person” and would be filing criminal charges against them.
